New Advice Series: Ask WordMum
Announcing a new series of posts for the WordFam: Ask WordMum!
The English language is a wondrous conglomeration of inspirations from myriad languages and sources. Or, it is three languages in a trench coat that likes to mug other languages in dark alleys for loose vocabulary. It has many rules and even more exceptions to those rules, and keeping it all straight can be a challenge. So many words look or sound similar to others. Meaning can be tricky, and nuance can be trickier.
There are lots of tips and tricks we use and exchange, and we love to share such resources and help our family out. Want to know when to use bear and when to use bare? The difference between affect and effect? Want a trick to remember whether to use rein or reign? Tune in to our new post series to find out!
Ask WordMum launches in the new year. The WordFam’s WordMum will be sharing some of the things that help her to know the right thing to do in a certain situation. (At least as far as word usage and grammar goes.)
The WordMum has a hefty list of things to cover already, but there’s always room for more. Got something you want to have clarified? Then ask your WordMum and she’ll pop it on the list!
We would also love to hear about tricks you use for these things! What works for one brain might not work for another, so let’s get some exchanges going. Let us know in the comments on the posts or chat about it in Discord.
Join us in January to learn when to use bare and when it’s a bear!
