About the WordParents

The WordFam is a community, and every community needs people at its head. They might be called leaders, coordinators, moderators, or admins. Here, they’re affectionately known as WordParents.

They’re here to guide, facilitate, organise, coordinate, and moderate our wonderful group and its activities. They make sure the WordFam stays true to its values and goals, and moves forward in the right direction.

The WordParents are a small, diverse team who work together closely to make the WordFam wonderful.

Kess is a technical writer by trade and a fiction writer for love. She has a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing, and has been writing professionally for more than 17 years. She has been running writing community events for over 15 years. She is a long-standing NaNoWriMo ML and writing group leader.

Roo has been helping people make the most out of their words for more than 10 years. Roo has supported fiction writers as a NaNoWriMo ML since 2016, and has supported factual writers as a court reporter and legal services manager since 2013. He is yet to meet a plot bunny he hasn't wanted to pet.

Pokestine is a hobby writer who particularly likes fantasy and world building. She also dabbles in fanfiction and other transformative works. She prioritises writing for fun instead of for profit so tends to pick up new projects constantly and someday she'll even finish one of them.

Caz is an aspiring contemporary romance author and small business owner. She authored a blog for years, then turned to fiction and has never looked back. After discovering NaNoWriMo in 2018, she brought together a small group of writers and became an ML in 2020.

Sean (aka Siamau) is a speculative fiction writer with his head so high in the clouds that all the brainstorming made his hair go curly. His real-world alter ego is a town planner who has been writing non-fiction worldbuilding reports for about 10 years. He has dabbled in NaNoWriMo since 2012 and became an ML for the Gold Coast region in 2020.
